Nada pode ficar
A film by Maria João Guardão
A film of the filmmaker and journalist Maria João Guardão, in collaboration with António Alvarenga and João Nunes, from a project by João Fiadeiro to DES| OCCUPATION of #55, Rua Poço dos Negros, Lisbon, last space of RE.AL Atelier.
Session followed by a talk between João Fiadeiro, the artists Ângela Guerreiro, Rui Catalão and Carolina Campos and the filmmaker Maria João Guardão.
An artist, João Fiadeiro, and the company he keeps, postpone and embrace the end at the house they
inhabited for the last decades, in the heart of a city consumed by gentrification - Lisbon. By vacating they occupy, by disbanding they stay together and by celebrating they reclaim a 30- year- old project from disaffected national politics.
What remains when everything must go?How does one keep on?
To make a film is a way of being together. To get together is a way of turning the end – of a project, of a community, of a form of inhabiting the city - into things to come.
A film about endings became its director’s first film.
