Mariana Dionísio and João Pereira are two of the most creative and versatile musicians in the Portuguese scene. Dionísio aligns herself with a musical tradition that brings together a taste for the pure exploration of sounds and textures and a deep concern with detail and musical rigour. Pereira, who is well-known as one of the vertices in Ricardo Toscano’s trio, represents an organic counterpoint, a connection to the earth. Together, they bring us Tracapangã, an improvised dialogue rooted in the universe of song.

The second concert of the day will see the much-awaited premiere of Homo Sapiens, Mário Costa’s new trio. A drummer from the north of Portugal with a powerful international projection, Costa has developed a remarkable trajectory intersecting different musical universes, from jazz to song and fado. For this project, he has summoned two exceptional musicians: Bruno Chevillon, a veteran double bassist from the Chromosome quartet, and Emile Parisien, a versatile saxophonist who has been accumulating reference collaborations, from Nasheet Waits to Lillinger, from Humair to Portal.
