Rosa Maria, a young history teacher, sets off with her daughter Maria Joana on a cruise across the Mediterranean to Bombay, India, where they will meet up with her husband. Through the various cities where the cruise stops, Rosa Maria will for the first time get to know places that she had talked about in her classes, but had never visited before. That's why the trip to Ceuta, Marseille, the ruins of Pompeii, Athens, the pyramids of Egypt and Istanbul is also a journey through Mediterranean civilization and an evocation of everything that has made a decisive mark on our Western culture. But on this cruise, she will also meet three women who impress her greatly: a Frenchwoman, a renowned businesswoman; an Italian, a former famous model; and a Greek, an actress and teacher; and above all, the ship's captain, an American of Polish origin. But on the way to a port in the Persian Gulf, a strange threat disrupts the cruise and threatens the ship and the lives of the passengers... (Official synopsis)
