Conference "Jean-Luc Godard unpublished 1977-1978" by Nicole Brenez, member of Collectif Ô Contraire! and co-curator of the exhibition Keeping tale of current times | Jean-Luc Godard - Visual Work.

To extend the many visual and textual discoveries presented in “Keeping tales of the current times”, we will explore an unpublished corpus dating from 1977-1978. At that time, Jean-Luc Godard gave a series of lectures at the Conservatoire d’Art cinématographique in Montreal, and had part of his talks transcribed for what would become his first personal book, Introduction à une véritable histoire du cinéma (Albatros editions, 1980). But what about the parts that were not transcribed or reproduced? What do they tell us about the editorial choices that presided over the existence of this book? Do they shed any light on the ideas and proposals that were bubbling up at that time and would give rise to the Histoire(s) du cinema fresco?" Nicole Brenez is Professor of Film Studies at the University of Sorbonne nouvelle and curator of the Cinémathèque française's avant-garde film series since 1996.  She worked with Chantal Akerman, Jean-Luc Godard, Jocelyne Saab, Marylène Negro, Clarisse Hahn, Jean-Gabriel Périot, and is currently working with Jacques Kebadian.  Among her last publications:  Manifestations.
