Married for a year but already feeling loveless about his wife, Carmen, Ricardo suddenly feels guilty and overburdened with remorse when he finds out from his mother-in-law that his wife has a degenerative disease and has only a few months left to live. Keeping it a secret, Ricardo will try his best to make her happy during the time she has left, starting by financing her dream of owning an expensive boutique. With Rafael Azcona's contribution to the screenplay, the film is a scathing critique on how the charms of consumerism are, in contemporary societies, a powerful antidote to any setback, be it a failing marriage, a sense of guilt or even death itself."
