The Serralves Library hosts the launch session of the Pre/Post Catalogue ― Visual Declinations of April 25, which will be led by the exhibition curator Miguel von Hafe Pérez.

Pre/Post ― Visual Variations of 25 April commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, not merely as a celebration, but as an exploration of the tensions, paradoxes, and transformations surrounding this pivotal event. Spanning the years 1970 to 1977, this book delves into the Portuguese art world’s response to the Revolution, shining a light on artists and works that capture the era’s rich and complex emotions. Featuring over 300 pieces across various media, it offers a rare glimpse into a turbulent chapter in Portuguese art history, enriched by testimonies from several key figures of the period. Edited by Miguel von Hafe Pérez and with newly commissioned texts by Isabel Sabino (Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon), David Evans (visual artist), José Luís Porfírio (art critic) and Filipa Vicente (researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon), this volume deepens our understanding of the revolutionary period and its impact on art and society.
