The Serralves Bookshop hosts the launch of the publication Park Atlas: The Camelias. The session will open with a presentation by Professor Helena Freitas, Director of the Serralves Park, who will introduce the Atlas of the Park collection. This series celebrates the biodiversity and natural heritage of Serralves Park, one of the most iconic green spaces in Portugal. Each issue focuses on exploring a distinct group that inhabits the park, aiming to bring the public closer to the story of nature in this unique space.
The presentation will be followed by a discussion about the Park Atlas: The Camelias issue with Ricardo Bravo, Advisor to Serralves Park, and Lísia Lopes, Researcher at the University of Aveiro. This volume offers a detailed perspective on the diversity of these plants within Serralves Park, highlighting their life cycle, their exuberance, and their transformation through the seasons. The photographic record was created by Lísia Lopes herself, researcher and photographer at the Herbarium of the Department of Biology at the University of Aveiro, with identification by António Assunção and Armando Oliveira, two of the most prominent camellia collectors.
