Created in 1989, Osso Exótico is a Portuguese collective based in Lisbon, Portugal, and is one of the most longstanding and consistent projects on the Portuguese experimental music scene. They are also widely recognised internationally, having published their work on European, American and Japanese labels. Their current line-up is made up of brothers André and David Maranha, Patrícia Machás, Francisco Tropa and Manuel Mota.
Osso Exótico's music dissolves categories and boundaries between genres. It focuses on sustained sounds that develop over time and has evolved throughout the years into something closer to theatre. The timbre of acoustic instruments and objects and the exploration of minimalist actions and slow, gradual changes in cyclical time run through the collective's mesmerizing musical world.
This concert takes place in the context of the exhibition ⒶMO-TE by Francisco Tropa (a member of the collective) and includes two pieces: Powwow will take place in the museum galleries, using one of the works in the exhibition as a sound instrument; and a new piece, Kalliope, will be premiered in the Serralves auditorium.
