The Serralves Foundation takes on
as its Mission to stimulate interest and knowledge in contemporary art, in
architecture, in the landscape and in themes critical to society and its
future, namely in the scope of sustainability and science and technology.
Starting from an integrating vision
that promotes innovation processes, Serralves intends to deepen and stimulate
the relationship between art, science and technology.
In this context, the Foundation
presents a new cycle of conversations entitled SERRALVES S+T+ARTS TALKS.
These talks will promote a debate based upon concrete activities, already
carried out or still ongoing under the European Union (EU) Single Digital
Market Initiative (EU) S+T+ARTS - Science, Technology and the Arts.
The first talk will focus on the
Portuguese and European context, discussing the emerging role of the arts in
promoting and implementing the green digital transition. Portuguese cases will
be addressed, in the context of the current EU presidency, and links will be
established to the European Digital Innovation Poles as well as possible
contributions from national organizations to this transformation.
“The emerging role of the arts in
the green digital transition - the case of Portugal: how the collaboration between
entrepreneurs, science, technology and the arts is crucial for contemporary
economies and societies”, will
host the Secretary of State for Digital Transition, André de Aragão Azevedo,
the President of the Board of Directors of the Serralves Foundation, Ana Pinho,
the Senior Expert at the European Commission, Ralph Dum, MEP Eva Kaili and
artist Leonel Moura. The debate will be moderated by Luis Miguel Girão,
specialist in the processes of interaction between art, science and technology.
Presentation of the theme and
participants:
The digital transformation consists
of technological and digital innovation of businesses, industries, companies,
products and services, in order to increase the competitiveness and economic
growth of the countries, in a sustainable way.
Thus, issues such as the importance
of the green digital transition, the leading role of Portugal in the digital
transformation in Europe, the inclusion of artistic thinking in research and
innovation practices in science and technology as factors that promote the
digital transition of economic sectors, the networking in different regions of
Europe and the role of artists and institutions in sustainability, will be some
of the topics discussed in the first talk of the Serralves S+T+ARTS Talks
series.
