Serralves Shop presents the first session of "Arte em Loja", featuring a live demonstration of the cyanotype technique, led by the Portuguese personal accessories brand Azuris.
Inspired by the Herbarium exhibition and marking the beginning of spring, this first workshop offers an immersive experience at the intersection of art, nature, and creativity. Participants will have the opportunity to explore cyanotype, a handcrafted photographic process that uses sunlight to create deep blue-toned prints. Much like Philippe Durand’s cyanotypes, showcased in the exhibition and documenting Mediterranean flora in detail, this workshop invites participants to learn and experiment with the technique, creating unique pieces that reflect the connection between art, science, and nature.
Participation is free, and attendees can purchase t-shirts and tote bags at the Serralves Shop to personalize using the cyanotype technique. Each participant will have the opportunity to customize one item.
The session will be led by Azuris, guiding participants through the entire creative process—from selecting natural elements and composing images to the final development. Personal accessories become canvases of self-expression, adorned with botanical and floral patterns.
"Arte em Loja" is a seasonal initiative by Serralves Shop, exploring how art can be integrated into daily life through different artistic techniques and creative processes.Throughout the year, four sessions will be held, giving the public the opportunity to discover artistic practices that directly engage with Serralves' exhibitions and programme. In this initiative, art is not merely something to be admired or acquired—it is an interactive process that encourages active participation and the discovery of new forms of expression.
