On November 25th, Serralves will host the launch and discussion around the book "The Order of Landscape" by João Gomes da Silva, edited and published by Monade. Will be in attendance the author and architect João Gomes da Silva, João Carmo Simões , architect and author of the book's photographic essay, Paulo David, architect, Aurora Carapinha, researcher, Daniela Sá, architect and editor, and Philippe Vergne, Director of the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art.
"The Order of Landscape" presents an incisive insight into the work of a leading figure in contemporary landscape architecture, João Gomes da Silva. Through an extensive photographic essay in a dual tone by João Carmo Simões, a collection of texts, and a set of technical drawings, the book reveals, for the first time, his fundamental body of work.
Starting in 1987, with Álvaro Siza in the Malagueira plan, Gomes da Silva's journey has decisively marked Portuguese contemporary architecture. From the Serralves Museum Garden to the seaside of Madeira and the riverside area of Lisbon, his particular conception of new places proposes a formality without formalism and a naturalness without naturalism.
