Workshop Reading of her Dance
CICLO O QUE A MINHA DANÇA DIZ VERA MANTERO
Concept and orientation: Vera Santos

In the workshop “Reading of her dance” is proposed the discovery of Mantero’s readings and writing at the time of creating Talvez ela pudesse dançar primeiro e pensar depois [Maybe she could dance first and think later] (1991); Olympia (1993) and uma misteriosa coisa, disse o e.e.cummings* [a mysterious thing, said e.e.ecumings] (1996), as well as texts by essayists, critics and researchers that have been accompanying her work and thought.
This is an invitation for a reflexive encounter with writing and speaking in Mantero’s oeuvre, which may open up possibilities to think dance and the artistic, social and political reality in which it moves and coinhabits.
Vera Santos (Porto, 1973) studies visual and decorative arts and engaged in a few crafts. She took a professional dance course, holds a BA in Theatre, a degree in art history, an MA in Art Criticism and has done specialized artistic training in dance techniques. She has worked as a hybrid performer (dance, theatre, performance), as well as a creator, pedagogue, assistant to other creators and movement coach to other performers. While researching the relationship between dance and memory (history, aesthetics, technique, support) she has engaged in developing cultural mediation work for the last decade.
