OUT OF THE TOY ROOM

In this second installment of our spectator school O Saber do Cinema [The Knowledge of Cinema], there will be, as in the first, five fortnightly screenings (between February 1 and March 29), this time dedicated to the Children's Kingdom, albeit in a film programme dedicated to adult audiences.

The screenings will be preceded by a short preamble and followed by a discussion that is intended to be fertile and participatory. At each screening, an original text will be distributed.

In the house of the filmmaker of Aniki-Bóbó (1942), our aim is to watch, rewatch and talk about films that offer us an unusual look at the world of the very young, far from the insulting angelism of adults who consider children and adolescents to be incomplete humans and repudiate the possibility of finding disturbing reflections of the standards of grown-up people in their behaviour.

In line with the objectives of Serralves Educational Service, this film programme, by Regina Guimarães and Saguenail, aims to destabilize preconceived ideas about filmic forms and themes that cinema has been tackling.
