Institutional Support

The Portuguese State has been one of the founders of Serralves since 1989. This partnership constitutes a key part of Serralves’ innovative management model that underpins the Foundation and sustains its activity: conciliating autonomy from private interests and independence from the political authorities, with a working methodology based on the establishment of partnerships with the founders and active cooperation with the State, with major rigour and efficiency in the management of resources.

In this manner, support from the Portuguese State, represented by the Ministery of Culture, has also guaranteed the financial resources required in order to implement the Foundation’s statutory goals.
