The Serralves Foundation, in collaboration with the Portuguese State Environmental Fund, promotes the construction of a "Treetop Walkway" in Serralves Park. Identified as being strategically relevant, the new walkway is created next to the tree canopy, high above the ground, and offers breathtaking opportunities to observe and study the Biodiversity of Serralves Park.
Serralves, that is celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2019, thereby reinforce its mission of promoting and enhancing natural and cultural heritage, innovating in developing environmental awareness initiatives and promotion of science and the Foundation’s relationship with different audiences – the general public and the educational and scientific community. New and different experiences – such as treetop walkways, that already exist in some of the world’s most important parks and gardens - will enable a different approach to people’s relationship with Nature.
Implementation of this project - designed by the architect Carlos Castanheira in collaboration with the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira - have a major impact in terms of environmental awareness and respect for conservation of nature, natural heritage and the scientific community, in Portugal and abroad.

The Environment Educational Service invites all schools to participate in guided visits and workshop/visits, accompanied by educators who will encourage observation, perception and interpretation of the existing space and natural heritage, at a pedagogical and scientific level, through sensory experience, offering a new experience of the Park across three dimensions:
- Scientific
